FAQs
Can I get on the waitlist for a specific class?
Yes! If a class is full, click to see the class details. Instead of the “add to cart” button, you’ll see a spot to enter your email. We’ll notify anyone on that waitlist if a spot opens up.
When do you post new classes?
New classes are posted every three months, around one month before the next quarter beings. To receive a notification, sign up for our newsletter!
Do you offer private group classes?
Yes! We enjoying hosting groups for birthdays, bachelorette parties, team building activities, and friend groups. We have limited availability, however, so inquire at least 3-4 weeks ahead of time! Email epicclaystudio@chwckck.org for more info — include group size, desired project (wheel or hand building), and several dates/times that would work for you.
When can I pick up my pottery?
Pieces are ready to pick up one month after class. We will hold pots for 2 months after that. Pick up times:
Wednesdays 6-8pm
Thursdays 6-8pm
Saturdays 12-5pm
How does Open Studio work? Do you offer memberships?
Our Open Studio times are pay-by-the-hour. Students may practice skills, continue working on projects, and enjoy our friendly, community atmosphere while creating. Walk-in time: Saturdays 12-5pm. New walk-in students will be given a brief studio tour and hand building demo to get started.
We do not teach beginner wheel lessons during Open Studio. Wheels are reserved for current students and those with prior experience. Additionally, we cannot accomodate large batches or production pottery, as we are a small, beginner-focused studio.
$10/hr fee includes studio time, glazes, and firings. If using studio clay, we charge $1 per pound.
If your group is more than 3-4 people, please email us ahead of time or consider booking a private class.
No memberships at the moment.
Do you rent kiln space?
Occasionally for small batches, yes. We charge by the shelf. Please email epicclaystudio@chwckck.org with your specific request.
When to arrive? What to wear?
Please arrive 5 minutes before class begins. Wear clothes that can get messy, although the majority of our clay and glazes wash out with water just fine. We recommend tying long hair back and having short nails if possible.
Where should I park?
There is free parking along the street in front of EPIC. We also have a small parking lot on the corner of the block (6th & Barnett), and students are welcome to park there.
Accessibility
Parking: There are short ramps leading up to our front entrances. We have an accesible parking space directly in front, with a ramp up to the sidewalk.
Restrooms: Our bathrooms are wheel-chair accessible, single user, and gender neutral. Lots of space to change clothes, if you’ve come straight from work!
Health: Our safety station includes a first aid kit, hand sanitizer, and free N95 masks of varying sizes. We keep a HEPA filter running in the studio at all times.
Staff: Our instructions are always willing to accomodate when possible! To request accommodations beforehand, email Rachel at epicclaystudio@chwckck.org
Do I have to bring a date to your Date Night class? Is BYOB allowed?
No date needed — people often bring a friend, relative, or coworker instead! Date Night participants must be 18+.
Yes, you may bring a beverage of your choice to our Date Night, Happy Hour, and private classes. We do not serve or sell alcohol.
Get creative with us.
There are lots of ways to get involved with Epic Arts, whether you’re looking to display your art, teach a class on your area of expertise, or volunteer!
Visiting Artists
Clay is awesome, but our studio likes to involve other creative disciplines, too! We host occasional classes taught by local artists & mentors on topics ranging from poetry to collage to coffee tasting. Depending on availability, guest-taught classes may take place in the clay studio, the art gallery next door, or our green space, which features 4 picnic tables and a stage.
If you’re interested in teaching a class for the community (or would like to propose a collaboration), contact Epic Clay with a proposed class description as well as your general availability.

Go shopping for us! We have an ongoing Amazon wishlist of our current needs—you can support us by shipping (or dropping off) any of those items at 2 South 14th Street, Kansas City, KS 66102.
